Perhaps you’ve been carrying out patrols around Dreaming City in Destiny 2 and you happen upon a curious item—a Corsair Down—which you pick up. You could also be having a great time in public events when you happen upon this item. And you can’t help but wonder what it is.

Well, it is highly likely to be a Corsair Down, which is a random drop that you can get at any point in Dreaming City. Several Destiny 2 players have no idea how to use this item or what its purpose is for, which is why we have created this Destiny 2 Corsair Down guide.

The Corsair Down, which appears to be a relatively harmless item, is akin to a locator that functions specifically as a tracker for dead soldiers from the Queen’s guard. The only way to acquire one of these items is to hope to come across as its appearance within the game completely depends on random number generator (RNG).

When you already have the Corsair Down in your possession, it will have its own special description, which is more than a couple of texts. You should note that each Corsair Down you possess has its own description since they all provide clues to different dead bodies. Hence, you have to pay attention to these descriptions so as to figure out the clues within them.

How To Use Destiny 2 Corsair Down

The most important, yet difficult thing about using the Corsair Down is figuring out the meaning of the clues in its description. Note that you can only gain access to this description when you navigate to your inventory, where you will find information that shows that the Corsair Down is a field communication device that transmits SOS with a repeating message attached to it. The message it transmits includes the hint required to help you locate the character sending the signal.

As mentioned earlier, each Corsair Down transmits different messages, which contains information on where you should go.

The following is a list of the location hidden in the clues transmitted by the Corsair Dow:

Gardens

If the Corsair Down gives a clue that repeats something about a garden, proceed to the Gardens of Esila, which is located south of The Strand. You are sure to find the dead body anywhere near the Garden.

Bay

If the transmission keeps repeating something about a bay, proceed to the Bay of Drowned Wishes, which is a lost sector in the Divalian Mists. The entrance to this location is right behind the landing zone.

Spine and Mist

If the Corsair Down transmission repeats something about a spine and mist, then you have to head to the Spine of Keres where you’ll find the dead bodies somewhere there. The Spine of Keres is the area where the observatory within the Oracle is located. The northwestern area of this observatory consists of a bunch of spires and islands that rise from the mist.

Harbinger

If the transmission from the item constantly transmits information about a harbinger, then you have to proceed to an area north of Rheasilvia known as Harbingers Seclude. If you have ever explored the Dreaming City, this clue should be easy for you to figure out. Enter the palace north of Rheasilvia, move past the big statue until you are right outside a big blue orb. Head east here and enter the reddish hall, the body should be somewhere here.

Chamber

If the Corsair Down repeatedly transmits something about a chamber, then you should head straight to the Chamber of Starlight, which is a lost sector in the Southern area of Rheasilvia. You will find the body of the dead soldier in here.

Aphelion

Should the transmission repeat something about Aphelion, then you should head to Aphelion’s Rest, which is a lost sector located in the Dreaming City. To reach this location, head to Petra Venj in the Strand and jump off the cliff. Immediately you land, turn around and you’d see a cave. Enter into the cave and look for the body.

Despite all the buzz the Corsair Down gives, when you are finally able to track down the character transmitting the SOS, you will realize you are too late.as all you’ll find is a dead body. When you interact with this body, a boss will spawn. If you can defeat this boss, you’ll get a Corsair Badge.

How To Use This Corsair Badge

The Corsair Badge is similar to a pair of dog-tags as it contains information that will enable you identify its owner. You get the Corsair Badge by defeating the Boss that spawned when you interacted with the dead soldier. You are required to take this badge to a Queen’s Guard camp since the dead body is one of the Queen’s Guard. Take note that the Queen’s Guard camp is located close to the giant gate in Divalian Mists, right in the cave with the white banners.

When you get there, proceed to any of the Non-Player Characters (NPCs) you find there and talk to them. They will appreciate you for notifying them of the death of one of their comrades. They will also give you a reward, which may not be significant.

If you can pay attention to the information in this Destiny 2 Corsair Down guide, then you will be able to easily identify the locations hidden in the clues transmitted by the Corsair Down.
