Google Play Music Is About to Be Shut Down

Google Play Music has been around for a while now, and many of us enjoy buying songs and even streaming on the Play app. However, the axe has fallen on the popular service, and it will be shutting down in a couple of months. This is definitely not going to happen with your favorite Mega Joker slot, but absolutely anything can happen. According to an announcement from the company, the app will lockout people gradually starting September this year.

The app is expected to close in December completely. However, note that it has discontinued purchases from Play Store starting August in preparation for the closure. It is also worth knowing that Google has a backup plan, and you should not lose your data in any case. So what happens now?

YouTube Music

Google has been waiting for the right moment to announce the shutdown. However, there were rumours that YouTube Music would finally replace it. In March this year, the company announced a tool that would help transfer your Google Play Music account to YouTube Music. At that moment, the final journey of the app was declared. Here is how the shutdown will occur:

  • August 2020: Discontinuation of music manager and store.
  • September 2020: Gradual lockout of users begins in South Africa and New Zealand.
  • December 2020: Google Play Music is completely phased out.

The August announcement came as an early warning to Play Music users who would like to keep the data they have previously bought through the library. It also came in time to let people know that the app will be replaced with YouTube Music on all new Android 10 devices.

How to Avoid Losing your Playlists, Music Uploads, and Purchases?

Google Play Music will be shut down in phases, as we have highlighted above. During this time, users will be allowed to transfer their data to YouTube Music using Google Takeout – an official app launched to ease the migration process. However, people looking to switch to other popular streaming services may encounter some difficulty since there is no official app. Even though, all is not lost since there are third-party apps you can use to switch between streaming services seamlessly.

According to information on the announcement, people will be able to download songs from the app to their computers within 30 days of lockout. This is especially useful for people who do not want to migrate to YouTube Music.

Besides, Google has provided an easy way to switch to YouTube Music. With the Takeout app, the transfer will be as easy as playing roulette on Energy Casino login. Furthermore, the transfer process does not discriminate between your uploaded pieces, playlists, or songs you purchased from the Play store.

The Disadvantage

While it feels good to have all songs needed in the same place, YouTube Music will come with some disadvantages to users. Perhaps the most significant one is the absence of purchase capabilities. You will not be able to buy music from YouTube, but the app will allow you to upload downloaded pieces from other sources.
