How to Install Windows 8.1 On VMWare Workstation And Player


Microsoft has released its latest Windows operating system with Windows 8.1. There are plenty of disadvantages of installing Windows 8.1 on your current Windows PC. Make sure to use a proper ISO file or an official DVD for Windows 8.1. Apart from this, if you are good at experience something new and trying out something techie on your PC or Laptop or if you are relates with Technology, you can install Windows 8.1 on VMWare Workstation and Player.

How to Install Windows 8.1 on VMWare Workstation and Player


Step 1 :

Before we get started, there are a couple of things needed. First one is a proper VMWare Workstation and Player and the second one is a proper ISO file of this latest Windows 8.1 Operating system. You can download it from Microsoft’s official site as well. If you are not aware about VMWare Player, kindly follow the below link and download it right from there!

Step 2 :

Open VMWare Player and click on to Create a new virtual machine option.

Step 3 :

You could see a new page with a proper boxes. Select Installer disc image file option and browse the ISO file of Windows 8.1 Operating system.

Step 4 :

Now, you just need to follow and complete some basic requirements which will be asked during the installation process. First you will get the warning that VMWare Player could not run this file with a couple of more options. You need to click on to the Next option.

Step 5 :

In the next page, select Microsoft Windows and then select the Operating system which you want to install on your PC. Make sure to select a proper 32 Bit or 64 Bit version according to your PC’s RAM and other functionality. And after making a proper selection of the OS’s version, click on to the Next button.

Step 6 :

After doing this, next page will ask you to select the location where a new Windows would store all of its files. You are recommended to select C Drive this time. Most of the users keep such System files in their C drive, so better not to change this era.

Step 7 :

After that, you will be asked to select Size of this new Windows. 60 GB storage is enough for this Windows OS, however you are requested to keep it around 100 GB.

Step 8 :

That’s all you have to do to getting started with the installation process of a latest Windows OS on your current PC. After completing all the steps, click on to the Finish option and then you are good to go!

Step 9 :

The recently created Virtual Machine will be listed at the left side in VMWare Player. Click on to the Start Virtual Machine option.

Step 10 :

As we already have chosen the ISO file of Windows 8.1 Operating system in the previous steps, this Virtual Machine will automatically recognises it and allows you to move further with the installation process.

Step 11 :

Fun part just begins. By now, you will be asked to complete some basic instructions like location, time and languages and all the other extremely basic ones. You can do it better, I know it. Make sure to select elect Custom: Install Windows only (advanced) when you would be asked to choose the system of this new OS. Yes, this is the same process as we are doing while installing the other OS versions on our PC. You are on a basic installation path now, so you don’t need to worry much about it.

Step 12 :

After completing all the given basic instructions, you will see Windows 8.1 gets loading and the installation process will take place after that.

Step 13 :

It will take around half an hour to complete the whole installation process well. After completing the process, you are requested to Restart your system once.

Step 14 :

By now, you can make changes to this system. Go to the Settings option and make changes to the location, date and timing and all the other basic things which we need on a regular basic. You’re done!
